The Wedding Checklist for the Confused Groom

By | How to . . ., Seattle Wedding Videographer | No Comments

An article by Tara B. at Groovy Groomsmen Gifts

To the soon-to-be husbands out there who are relieved that the wedding proposal is finally over, here’s the catch: the fun’s just about to start – can you tell there’s a slight hint of sarcasm there somewhere?

Here comes the road to the happiest day of your life: the wedding planning. Of course, this road isn’t going to be a smooth one, especially for most grooms who are as clueless as their brides are born prepared. There’s no need for you to dump all the burden of planning to your bride-to-be. You can have your share of wedding tasks and totally ace each one of them!

Choose your entourage.

On your big day, you will need your best guys to be by your side. Once you have tasked someone to be your best man, start preparing for your groomsmen list. Just make sure that you do this at least six months before the wedding so they can make their own preparations as well.

Find the right clothes.

At least three months before your big day, decide on your get-up. Are you sticking to the traditional tux or go all-out on a tail and top hat ensemble? Don’t forget the smaller yet similarly important details, such as your tie, flower pin, cufflinks, shoes, and socks. You might want to coordinate with your bride on this to match your wedding’s theme.

Be a helping hand to your bride.

You may think that your bride’s got everything in control, but what she needs the most during this crucial time is your comfort and support. Don’t be a wallflower throughout the wedding preparations and do something productive even when she did not ask for it.

Help out your partner by suggesting a good photographer or videographer who can beautifully capture your precious moments on the day of the wedding. You can also offer to organize your honeymoon to take things off her hands. Your bride will thank you for it.

Be present — physically and emotionally.

Let your bride feel your presence throughout the wedding preparations. This will be a stressful time for her, and the best thing you can do is let her know that you are there to ease the stress, even if it means just giving her a random massage or a kiss on the cheek. Of course, be present — in mind and in spirit — on the wedding day itself.

Arrange your marriage license.

Before departing for your honeymoon, arrange for your wedding license. Have it signed and sent off to the courthouse. Save your bride all the hassle of paperwork.

Thank everyone.

The best day of your married life would not be possible without all the guests and the people who helped you make it possible. Don’t forget to show your gratitude to everyone who came and assisted you in any way they can. Buy gifts for your groomsmen. They’ll love a groomsmen group caricature or a customized flask with their names on it, that’s for sure!

Be a confused groom no more and know what to do. Most importantly, smile all throughout the wedding planning experience. The best is yet to come!

Filming with the GEEK SQUAD at BEST BUY Headquarters

By | Seattle Wedding Videographer | No Comments

BEST BUY recently hired Pixel Dust to go behind the scenes at their Seattle Corporate offices to film the GEEK SQUAD in action. They broke out their NERF guns and we had inter-office war for the special occasion! It was great! “We have the best job” said Dylan Mander, Pixel Dust’s Videographer and Editor, after the epic shoot. Unfortunately per our contract we can’t share the footage but here are some fun behind the scenes pics.

5 Tips to finding your Wedding Officiant

By | How to . . ., Seattle Wedding Videographer | No Comments

1. Figure out what type of ceremony you want
Prior to your first meeting with your potential officiant, you and your fiancé should make sure you’re on the same page about the mood and feel of your ceremony . Will it be traditional or modern? Religious or secular? How long would you like it to be? Share these thoughts with each candidate and then you can start narrowing down your search.

2. Set up a meeting
Whether it’s in person or via video chat, it’s critical that you actually have a one-on-one conversation with your potential officiant before hiring them. Do you like the sound of their voice and the way they speak? Are they willing to take the time needed to get to know you

3. Understand your state’s rules
Make sure your state and county recognize your officiant as someone who is authorized to perform the ceremony.

4. Read reviews and check out their work
Officiants who have professional listings on the major wedding directories, such as WeddingWire post reviews. Don’t just look only at the number of reviews though, read what the couples wrote because, ultimately, that’s what’s most important. Also check out their work- many Officiant’s have samples of ceremonies and other clips online. Here is an example of Annemarie Juhlian’s website video. Annemarie is one of many Seattle based officiant’s we’ve worked with and LOVE!

5. Ask around
When looking for an officiant ask your vendors who they would recommend. They work with all different vendors each weekend and will know who would be a potentially good fit for you. Here’s a link to our preferred vendors.

Just wrapped up the 2015 Seattle Wedding Show. The show takes place every year in January. This year there were over 400 vendors and around 7,500 guests all mingling, cheering on the dancing models in the fashion show, tasting wedding cake and planning their big events! 😉

Myself (and likely all vendors and SWS staff) are happily exhausted. LOL. But before I crash I want to be sure and thank a few people who made this year so special!

Special Thanks to:
Gary Smith
John Warner

Dylan Mander

Thank you so much for all of your help! We couldn’t have done it without you. 🙂

Also I want to congratulate Sal Floral Design on winning best booth this year! It was truly SPECTACULAR!

Mariachi, Tequila and Late Night Tacos!

By | Bainbridge Island Wedding Videographer, Seattle Wedding Videographer | No Comments

On October 10th we we’re thrilled to film Miguel & Carrey’s Mexican Wedding at the Newcastle Golf Club. This was honestly one of my all-time FAVORITE weddings! The couple was absolutely incredible and all about having a great time with friends and family. They even let me join in and dance with the groom (after I pinned money on his suit of course!) What a riot!

They entered the ceremony with music from a professional mariachi band. On exit guests were given Coronas and ushered to the cocktail party while the couple went to sign their marriage certificate. They did a traditional Mexican dance then had a 2nd band to rock the house while a late night taco bar was set-up for the guests. It was incredible!
