As a wedding videographer who has worked in various locations around the Pacific Northwest, I can confidently say that Tacoma, Washington is an excellent choice for couples looking for a unique and affordable wedding destination. Tacoma is a city that is often overlooked by many as they plan their big day, but it offers a fantastic range of venues and backdrops that are perfect for capturing unforgettable wedding memories.
One of the most significant advantages of having a wedding in Tacoma is the price difference compared to Seattle. Seattle is a popular wedding destination that comes with a high price tag. In contrast, Tacoma is a more affordable option, making it an excellent choice for couples who want to create a beautiful wedding without breaking the bank. With its diverse mix of indoor and outdoor venues, Tacoma is a versatile location that can accommodate any wedding style or budget.
One of the most stunning and unique locations for wedding photos and videos in Tacoma is the Museum of Glass. The Museum of Glass is a contemporary art museum that features a collection of glass art and a glassblowing studio. The museum is located on the waterfront, offering breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and Mount Rainier in the distance. This location provides an impressive backdrop for wedding photos and videos, particularly for those who want to incorporate a modern and artistic flair into their wedding theme. The museum’s outdoor plaza is particularly popular for weddings as it provides a stunning view of the glass bridge, the Chihuly Bridge of Glass, which connects the museum to downtown Tacoma.
Another fantastic option for weddings in Tacoma is the Foss Waterway Seaport. This maritime museum offers a stunning waterfront location that is perfect for couples who want a nautical theme for their wedding or just a large open space. The Seaport’s outdoor venue provides a picturesque setting for wedding photos and videos, with views of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in the distance.
Besides Tacoma, the south of Washington is home to several other unique and breathtaking wedding venues that are worth considering. One of these venues is the Thornewood Castle, located in Lakewood. This stunning castle is over 500 years old and features a private lake, beautiful gardens, and antique furnishings. The castle’s grandeur and elegance make it perfect for couples who want a fairytale wedding that will be remembered for years to come.
Another popular wedding venue in the south of Washington is the Alderbrook Resort and Spa in Union. The resort is located on the Hood Canal and features stunning waterfront views, lush gardens, and rustic-chic cabins. The Alderbrook Resort and Spa is perfect for couples who want a relaxing and peaceful wedding that is surrounded by nature.
In conclusion, Tacoma, Washington, and the south of Washington offer a range of unique and stunning wedding venues that are perfect for creating unforgettable wedding memories. From the Museum of Glass to the Foss Waterway Seaport, Tacoma is an affordable location that can accommodate any wedding style or budget. Couples who want a fairytale wedding may opt for Thornewood Castle, while those who prefer a peaceful and relaxing wedding may consider the Alderbrook Resort and Spa. Overall, Tacoma and the south of Washington are excellent choices for couples looking for a beautiful and unique wedding destination.

TACOMA VIDEOGRAPHER FAQ

Q: What is one thing Tacoma weddings are known for?

A: Tacoma weddings are known for large open space venues that leave lots of room for you to get creative and decorate the space your way.

Q: Advantages of having a wedding in Tacoma?

A: One big advantage of a Tacoma wedding is you can typically find all of the same amenities as a Seattle wedding but for a much lower price.

Q: My personal favorite venue to film at in Tacoma?

A: There are a ton of great wedding venues in and around Tacoma. My favorite has to be the old Tacoma train station, Union Station. This venue is awesome for many reasons but to name a few… the space in general is huge but also looks nice. That means you can have a ton of guests but not break the bank trying to decorate a gigantic space because it already looks good. The second big reason is the proximity to the water and the Chihuly glass museum which makes the perfect convenient area for photo and video backdrops.

Q: How long before your wedding should you be trying to book a Tacoma wedding venue?

A: It is recommended to book a Tacoma wedding venue at least 1-3 years in advance to guarantee your first choice. If you choose to hold your a wedding mid-week or on a Sunday you will have a little more leeway as there is less demand for these dates.
