Court in the Square Wedding Video: K&R’s Seattle Celebration

Few days feel as effortlessly joyful as K & R’s June celebration at Court in the Square in downtown Seattle. Their wedding had everything I love capturing on film. A couple who wanted their day to feel relaxed, candid, and true to who they are. Their Court in the Square wedding video quickly became one of my favorites of the season. Not only because of the stunning details but because K & R’s personally unfolded on the film so clearly.

We began the wedding day at Embassy Suites Pioneer Square, where both the bride and groom got ready with their wedding party. The morning started with soft clouds, perfect for video on the balcony, and warm summer air drifting through downtown Seattle. From the rooftop, we had sweeping views of the Pioneer Square clock tower and the city skyline.

The Details

Their details were stunning: a palette of greens, baby blues, whites, and golds; disco‑ball‑inspired accents; and invitations that tied everything together. The girls got ready in a bright suite filled with natural light, laughing and helping K into her dress. Meanwhile, R looked incredibly sharp in his suit and bowtie. Cool little detail, R had their wedding date engraved on the back of his watch.

Their first look on the Embassy Suites rooftop was emotional, sweet, and full of genuine reactions. They exchanged personal vows privately, and without planning it, both had written nearly identical openers.

After we captured bride and groom portraits around Pioneer Square and the stadium district. This is a great area in downtown Seattle for capturing wedding photos/video. The mix of old brick, downtown skyscrapers, and mature trees along the sidewalk provide an excellent urban backdrop.

Court in the Square

Court in the Square, was a very short walk around the corner from Embassy Suites. We immediately went up the rooftop to take wedding party photos. The rooftop offered plenty of space for the wedding party and their adorable pup, who made a cameo in the family photos and even walked down the aisle as the final “member” of the processional.

Inside the courtyard, guests were greeted by warm hanging lights, gold chairs, lush florals, and sky lighted ceiling that made the entire space glow. One of my favorite things about filming here is how the venue feels like an outdoor courtyard while still being fully protected from Seattle’s unpredictable weather. It’s the best of both worlds.

A live orchestra played as guests found their seats, and the bride walked in on a path of flower petals. Their ceremony was heartfelt and romantic, filled with personal words and joyful reactions from their friends and family. After a celebratory group photo on the front steps, everyone moved into a lively cocktail hour featuring custom napkins with their dog’s face, a detail that had everyone smiling.

The Reception Décor

The reception décor was incredible. Each table was themed around a city the couple had visited, complete with custom artwork. The floral color palette was soft blues, blush pinks, greens, and whites, paired with matching napkins. One of my favorite touches was the personalized thank‑you notes at each place setting, such a thoughtful way to make guests feel appreciated.

Their cake, created by Honey Crumb Cake Studio, was a showstopper: a multi‑tier masterpiece with floral motifs and a tiny dog figurine that matched their pup. (You can explore Honey Crumb’s work here: https://honeycrumb.com)

The grand entrance kicked off an electric evening. The wedding parties danced in with full energy, the groomsmen spinning and hyping up the crowd. Toasts were heartfelt and beautifully framed by the slightly elevated stage, giving everyone a perfect view of the couple.

Their first dance was cinematic, R lifted and spun K, and the room erupted in cheers. Parent dances followed, full of emotion and connection. After cutting the cake, the dance floor exploded into a full‑on party with glow tubes, nonstop dancing, and a packed floor under the warm hanging lights.

Q: Dylan's favorite thing about filming weddings at the Court in the Square?

A: The cocktail hour space is out of sight of the reception tables. This is great for me as a videographer because I can capture all of the details without guests being in the shot. It is also great for guests because they get a big reveal moment.

Tip: The roof of Court in the Square is a great place to do wedding party photos.

Q: Where are the best places to find out more information about weddings at the Court in the Square?

A: Photography examples from past weddings. Here are a few gallerys we love:

Q: How long before your wedding should you be trying to book the Court in the Square for your wedding?

A: You should try to book the Court in the Square 1-3 years in advance of your wedding to guarantee your choice of date. If you can be flexible having your wedding on a Friday, Sunday, or mid-week will allow you to book closer to your wedding day because there is less demand for these dates.
