FALL KIANA LODGE WEDDING ON A PERFECT OCTOBER DAY

A Kiana Lodge Wedding in is something special, and Tim and Rachel’s October 2026 celebration proved just how magical this venue can be, even late into the season. Partially cloudy skies, warm air, and sunlight breaking across the water created a backdrop that felt more late August than mid-fall. From heartfelt first looks to a packed dance floor this wedding day had it all.

Why a Fall Wedding at Kiana Lodge Is So Stunning

Kiana Lodge sits right on the water in Poulsbo, Washington. In October, the mix of evergreen backdrops and changing maples creates an incredible natural palette. On Tim and Rachel’s day, the sun would peek through the clouds, lighting up the greens across the water and giving everything that golden Pacific Northwest glow.

It was seasonably warm, guests were comfortable outside in T-shirts during cocktail hour, which isn’t always guaranteed for a Washington fall wedding. The waterfront lawn was vibrant, the trees were glowing, and the ceremony florals (reds, pinks, yellows, sage) felt perfectly at home against the deep green backdrop.

Getting Ready: Lodge Charm & Airbnb Energy

Tim got ready inside Kiana Lodge itself, which is ideal for the guys. The timber exterior and log cabin aesthetic give way to a stone fireplace, antique details, and incredible natural light. There’s space to spread out, a long table for details and accessories, and a relaxed atmosphere that works beautifully for videography.

Rachel and the bridesmaids chose a large nearby Airbnb so they could have more privacy and space to host friends. It gave the morning a communal, joyful feel, lots of laughter, storytelling, and good times. Later, they returned to Kiana Lodge for the final touches.

Videographer Tip:
One of my favorite moves at Kiana is bringing the dress out of the getting-ready suite and into the open reception space before guests arrive. The wooden backdrop, hanging ferns, and soft natural window light create a far more cinematic look.

A Waterfront First Look & Playful Wedding Party

Their first look was wholesome and genuine. Both were clearly excited and a little nervous, the kind of authentic reaction that makes wedding videography so much fun. They took their time noticing details, smiling, spinning for each other, and just being fully present.

We walked along the waterfront afterward, using the dock and pond area facing the water for portraits. The light reflecting off the ocean created a natural glow, soft, flattering, and unmistakably Pacific Northwest.

The wedding party? Total energy. After the formal shots, everyone leaned into the fun. Silly poses. Big reactions. Laughter that carried across the lawn. Those are the moments I love capturing most.

Cocktail Hour, Signature Drinks & Lodge Reception

October cocktail hour on the lawn? I love it

Guests flowed between outdoor lawn space and the lodge interior. Signature drinks were a highlight:

  • Rachel’s “Rita” – tequila, lime, triple sec
  • Tim’s “Mar-timmy” – vodka, iced coffee, simple syrup (served in a coupe glass)

They also passed out Rainier-style custom koozies, a subtle Pacific Northwest nod, and even gave guests lottery tickets for a little added fun.

Inside, the reception design continued the amber, blush, and green palette. Amber goblets caught the candlelight. Wax-sealed name cards added texture. The warm wood interior of Kiana Lodge amplified everything.

Dinner at Kiana is always a standout. Truly some of the best catering quality in the region, a major selling point for couples exploring Washington wedding venues.

Grand Entrance, Emotional Dances & Epic Dance Floor

The energy ramped up fast.

The groomsmen entered in a conga line. The bridesmaids came out screaming with excitement. Then Rachel and Tim danced their way into the lodge surrounded by cheering guests waving napkins overhead.

Their first dance was joyful and playful, spins, laughter, and real chemistry. The father-daughter dance had everyone emotional, and Tim’s dance with his mom was incredibly sweet.

After heartfelt toasts, the dessert display looked like a luxury bakery pop-up, endless options, nothing left by the end of the night.

Couple Tip:
Always do a full-group photo on the dance floor. It’s one of the only times in your life everyone you love is in one place. Capture it.

The DJ @levi_harshman absolutely transformed the lodge. Club-style lighting filled the wood interior, and from that point on, it was nonstop dancing. The dance floor stayed packed until the very end.

Capturing the Film: Highlight & Feature

For this Fall Kiana Lodge Wedding, we created:

  • Extended Highlight Film (5–8 minutes) – the best visuals, emotional beats, and storytelling moments.
  • Feature Film (long-form) – deeper focus on guests, moments in-between, and subtle interactions you’ll cherish decades from now.

Wedding films are about more than just remembering what happened, they preserve how it felt.
